For more than 20 years, Dr. Afshin Kaivan-Mehr, DC, has been dedicated to helping patients improve their health, recover from injuries, and live active, healthier lives through chiropractic care. As the founder and chiropractor at Foothill Family Chiropractic, Dr. Mehr brings extensive clinical experience, a passion for helping others, and a personal understanding of the healing process to every patient he serves.

Dr. Mehr’s journey into chiropractic care began with his own experience as a competitive athlete. While playing semi-professional soccer in Canada, he experienced sports-related injuries that significantly affected his ability to remain active. Through chiropractic care, he experienced firsthand the benefits of proper spinal care and rehabilitation. His own recovery not only changed his perspective on health and wellness, but ultimately inspired him to pursue chiropractic as his life's profession.

Today, Dr. Mehr combines more than two decades of experience with a continued commitment to staying current with advancements in chiropractic care and rehabilitative therapies. His areas of focus include Sports Injuries, Spinal Decompression, Laser Therapy, injury rehabilitation, and ongoing chiropractic wellness and maintenance care. He believes that chiropractic care should not only address pain and injury, but also help patients maintain mobility, function, strength, and an active lifestyle.

Dr. Mehr is particularly passionate about working with athletes and active individuals. His experience as an athlete allows him to understand the physical demands placed on the body and the importance of getting patients safely back to the activities they enjoy. He regularly conducts sports physical assessments for local high school teams and has served as a team doctor, providing care and guidance to young athletes.

Beyond his clinical work, Dr. Mehr has been actively involved in the professional and local community. He has served as Treasurer and President of the California Chiropractic Association (CCA) and has also served as Treasurer and Board Director of the CCA’s San Gabriel Valley District. In addition, he has served on the Board of the La Verne Chamber of Commerce, reflecting his commitment to both the chiropractic profession and the local community.

Dr. Mehr believes that good health is an ongoing process rather than something that should only be addressed when pain occurs. His approach is centered on helping each patient understand their condition, their treatment options, and the importance of taking an active role in their own health. Whether helping someone recover from an injury, supporting an athlete, or helping a patient maintain their mobility and overall wellness, his goal is to provide personalized care designed around each individual's needs.

Outside of the office, Dr. Mehr enjoys spending time with his wife and their two children. He continues to enjoy an active lifestyle and remains passionate about sports, fitness, family, and giving back to the community he has served for more than two decades.
